Week 17

This is my Week 17 contribution, and it is another panel for my ocean book.

I have already done some quilting on it and I will be adding some beading and shells to this piece,   The book will have 5 panels; I have posted three and the other two are in the works.  Check back to find out how this book progresses...

Week 16

I am posting on Wednesday, even though I have made several week's pieces ahead of schedule because I just downloaded Win 10 and have spent the past few days resolving some issues!  What a pain.  I'd rather be in the studio!!  In any case, I was inspired by the piece I did on Week 14 and have decided to do a fiber book with it as the inspiration.  So here is one of the panels for the book, which is my offering for week 16:

As you can tell, my theme is the ocean and I have all the panels done or in progress. They will be posted in the coming weeks.  I fused each green fabric to itself, then cut the fronds out of it and sewed it to the background on the top only, so that the frond is a 3-D feature.  I have done some quilting but I'm not sure it's totally done.  I may add some other elements to it.  We'll see.  Watch for future panels and the completed accordion book.

Week 15 DONE!

I sort of got carried away with this week"s piece, creating a whole scene on my little 6 inch square!  I will,  of course add stitching and free-motion embroidery when I use this piece; I can see it in a whole quilt with other tree scenes, so maybe that's how I'll use it, who knows?

The trees came from several different aspen tree fabrics.  Don't you just love the trees set against the colorful sky fabric?

Done with Week 14!

OK, are we seasick yet?  I decided to use up some of my Blue stash with this piece, simulating waves on the ocean.  I have stitched each wave down and couched some silver cord on top of each wave.  I'll probably do additional stitching if this piece is ever used in a larger piece.  I still have no plans on using any of these weekly pieces, unless the muse hits and there is a common theme (or color range) among them.  Right now I'm just playing and having fun!
